Natural born romantic, from my roots, always have been. I would get huge butterflies before first dates and my hopes high, real high. Dreamy dream. Heartbreak central. Romance is enchanting, but we all know love is a battlefield.

Last night was 5 years since our first date, our first sight, and it was love. We matched by the swipe of (ok)Cupid’s arrow, a near perfect match of 97%. Honestly, it might have been love before we met in person, somehow curiously obvious to us both over typed characters, cut through the static and congestion of profiles and both our skepticism. We had both spoke to friends separately about our date, before meeting under lamplight in the winter air. We married 10 months later.

You might imagine it’s been wedded bliss, having matched so well and marrying with swift enthusiasm, but it’s the opposites that attract and we love our 3% of differences. ;) This past year has been a doozie, a jaw-breaker, a real tilt-a-whirl, but truly each year of our relationship has turned us over in intense ways. We’ve had a lot of learning to do, and as the pencil marks have climbed higher, we’ve felt growing pains.

Magic is practical and often the result of hard work and thoughtfulness. Eating dinner at The Maker last night in my wedding dress was a real treat of celebration, but it’s looking into the eyes of your love and seeing the light of efforts thats the real pot of gold. Romance is magic from practical effort and thoughtfulness of love, and it’s worth fighting for.

Here’s to recognizing loves hard work, as we hold each others calloused hands.✨
